I'm Sam. I started my carpentry career in Sydney, working on high-end, award-winning homes. Through this I fell in love with building and found I had an eye for the finer details. Since then I've trained in joinery and cabinet making, building custom solid wood furniture and high-end kitchens.
Yurts combine the best of those worlds for me, creating beautiful, habitable spaces while working with solid timber.
I'm also passionate about making homes more affordable, giving people the freedom to slow down, be more present, and reconnect with nature. Because that's what I want for me.
Living Yurts was my brainchild, but I quickly realised it was bigger than me. Joel was the perfect match, having had the same thoughts and ideas about building and living, with his extensive building knowledge, sharp sense of humour, and consistent positive mindset.

I'm Joel. I came to Australia looking for change and inspiration, and that culminated in me reinventing myself as a carpenter and finding my love for creating with timber.
Since then, I've built my own carpentry company, and I'm now moving that experience across to Living Yurts, bringing the same skills, standards and hands-on knowledge with me. I always have a client-first focus and am not happy until you are.
My inspiration for yurts is born out of that mutual feeling that everyone experiences when stepping inside one: serenity and a calmness that should not be underestimated. My experience fitting out a campervan, living on the road and then in a tiny home, gave me great insight into being creative with the space people live in.
Being able to offer alternative solutions that are affordable and achievable for families across Australia is something close to my heart, having come from a low socioeconomic background and living with the hardships that many Australians face today.
